Impact & Sustainability
Growing More Than Avocados
Avoruti’s model proves that exceptional avocados can be grown with purpose, impact, and love.
Women Empowerment
Today, we proudly partner with 500 pastoralist women from the Samburu and Pokot communities. Each month, each household supplies 5 tons of organic manure and earn $150 each — income that exceeds Kenya’s minimum wage.
This reliable income helps them feed their families, pay school fees, access healthcare, and build financial independence in a region where economic opportunities for women are limited.
Annually: Approximately $1,000,000 paid to the pastoralist women
Regenerative Agriculture & Soil Health
Every month, the 2,500 tons of organic manure from these women nourish 50,000 avocado trees spread across Laikipia.
This natural approach improves soil structure, boosts microbial activity, enhances water retention, and produces stronger, more resilient trees requiring very little conventional chemical spraying.
Carbon Sequestration & Climate Impact
The organic manure contributes to meaningful carbon sequestration — approximately 75 – 125 tons of CO₂ equivalent removed from the atmosphere each month.
By replacing chemical fertilizers, we reduce nitrous oxide emissions and build long-term soil carbon storage. Our orchards act as a carbon sink that helps remove significant emissions.
Solar-Powered Irrigation
We harness solar energy to power the majority of our key farm operations such as our irrigation systems — including pumping water uphill for several kilometers to our farms.
This delivers zero carbon emissions from irrigation, reduces pollution, improves water efficiency, and supports consistent, high-quality fruit production while lowering long-term costs.
